Have you ever experienced a moment where something just felt right, without any logical explanation?

Perhaps it was a sudden knowing, a gut feeling, or a whisper in your mind guiding you toward a decision. Many of us have encountered these subtle nudges from our intuition, yet often, we dismiss them as mere coincidences or irrational thoughts. But what if we learned to trust these whispers? What if they held the key to unlocking our inner wisdom and guiding us on our path?

Intuition, often described as the ability to understand something instinctively without the need for conscious reasoning, is a powerful tool that we all possess. It’s that inner voice that speaks to us in moments of uncertainty, nudging us towards the right direction if we’re willing to listen. But how do we tap into this innate wisdom?

How I Learnt to Trust My Whispers

While intuition was on high voltage since I was just 3 years young, I can’t say I found it alone. Yes, it’s an internal knowing beyond words, beyond physical proof, or data. It was strongest when I was quiet. Intuition would sometimes invite itself as a bright, iridescent pin of light, or a whisper humming an unknown song in my head that no one else could hear. As a child, I saw friendly, colorful shadows everywhere. Nothing scary, creepy, or bloody. I thought everyone could see what I saw.

First appearing at my sandbox in the backyard of our Canoga Park, CA home, I was playing “tea party” with my grandfather, whom I never physically met or knew. He was as tall as my own dad, and spoke only Chinese. I don’t speak Chinese. I eat it. I look it. But I don’t speak it. And I understood every word he said, as he told me about my father when he was about 5 years old. My dad had asked his caretaker to get him a glass of water, and he wanted it, “to come out of the wall from a spout.” Grandfather explained he wanted a spicket installed outdoors where he played at his sandbox, for everyone to enjoy. Grandfather had it installed the next day.

My dad asked me, “Who are you talking to?” I said, “It’s your dad.”

This encounter unveiled what was lovingly called the family curse. The ability to be acutely aware of the intuitive ran in the lineage of my family bloodline. My parents assembled guides, senseis, shamans, teachers, a few therapists, and a world-renowned Medium. They were there to help me understand the gifts of the universe and to accelerate my sixth sense; my intuition. By the time I was five, I had a shaman on speed dial. This was not an illness, or a mental defect, or looked at as abnormal. This was my normal. My ancestral normal.

My hypersensitive ability to sense other people’s intuitive voice was an unsettling dynamic feature until I inhaled the guidance that would allow me to interact like everyone else.

Since childhood, one very integral aspect of my daily routine has been to engage in peace. First it was my sandbox. Alone, I could let my inner intuitive self be free of judgment, ridicule, or fear from the worried eyes of well-meaning family friends, doctors, or the casual passerbys. I would laugh out loud, or engage in conversation with Spirit. By middle school, it was music and writing that would provide protection and safety; my peaceful sanctuary to be me. In high school and college, I needed the ocean; the vastness of our universe using water to breathe, communicate life and death, and connect to the many unseen universes of the past, present, and future. Lucky me, Malibu was a short drive away.

So How Do We Learn to Trust The Whispers of Our Intuition?

  1. Set sacred space.

This is a location where I enjoy daily practice of meditation. It can be as ornate as you desire, or as simple as a feather in a glass vase. A chair, a room, a few of your favorite amulets like crystals, incense, candles, a bell, and pictures add to your concentration, your completion of a daily ritual, and the outcome of what you desire.

Mine is what’s called Butsudan, a simple Japanese prayer shrine. I have one at my office too, where I can decompress between clients, write in my journal, and recenter my focus.

  2. Set Intention
    What is intention?
Intention is a spirited design of an outcome that you are desiring for whatever you set your mind to achieve, accomplish, feel, or experience.

By clearly defining our desires and goals, we signal to the universe our intentions, aligning our actions with our inner guidance. Whether it’s setting intentions for emotional clarity, spiritual alignment, physical well-being, mental focus, or financial abundance, intention setting serves as a catalyst for manifestation.

    Examples:
”My intention is to feel emotionally exhilarated today as I work with my clients to clear old thoughts and old ghosts.”

”My intention is to feel spiritually in alignment with my highest self, my highest purpose.”

”My intention is to physically enjoy the results of my Zumba class, and to dance my heart out with great friends.”

”My intention is to have mental clarity staying on track with the projects I want to accomplish today.

”My intention is to create financial abundance from known and unknown sources for the highest good of myself and my family, my charitable causes. And an upgrade on my Kauai vacation.”

  3. Trust the manifestation, from the paranormal to the physical.

  4. You will be the observer, rather than be in first-person. You will begin to feel the energy of self validation.

Learning to trust our intuition often requires quieting the noise of the outside world and tuning into our inner guidance. For some, intuition may manifest as a subtle feeling or knowing, while for others, it may appear as vivid imagery or auditory cues. Regardless of the form it takes, it’s essential to create sacred space for introspection and meditation. Whether it’s a dedicated meditation corner or a peaceful walk in nature, finding moments of stillness allows us to connect with our intuition on a deeper level.

Personal experiences can also serve as powerful teachers on our journey towards trusting our intuition. Reflecting on past instances where our intuition proved to be accurate can help build confidence in our inner guidance system. It’s about embracing these moments as valuable lessons and acknowledging the wisdom that lies within us.

Ultimately, trusting our intuition is about surrendering to the flow of life and embracing the magic and miracles that unfold along the way. It’s about letting go of the need for rational explanations and allowing ourselves to be guided by the wisdom of our intuition. As we cultivate this trust, we open ourselves up to a world of possibilities, where the paranormal becomes the norm, and miracles become everyday occurrences.

So the next time you hear that whisper within, don’t dismiss it. Embrace it. Trust it. For it may just be the guiding light that leads you to your true path. Trust the whisper, and let it lead you towards a life filled with purpose, joy, and abundance.
